All three kids love the story about Jesus' birth and they like to reenact the manger scene by dressing up as Mary/Joesph and so on. Baby Jesus is usually a stuffed animal or sometimes one of Wrig's babies. I love to see them playing...they all know the story so well. Wrigley and Maddux had a Christmas program at pre-school where all the kids dressed up as a part of the manger scene. Now we have a lot of dressing up at home too. With Christmas just days away we have been trying to explain to all three of them how Christmas is sooo important being Jesus' birthday and all. We have also been talking about how Jesus received three presents for his birthday one from each of the three wise men. I think Brady and I are going to start a new tradition this year and get the kids three gifts and then let them use the rest of their money to buy Jesus a present....and by present I mean helping someone less fortunate than us. Our church partners with a village in Africa and the people of the village need chickens...goats...seeds etc. so I think we will look through the book our church provides us and let them choose their own present to Jesus. I don't want Christmas to be about presents....I want it to be about Jesus and the importance of his birth. I am hoping if we teach them this lesson when they are young that they will continue it throughout their lives. Merry Christmas to everyone...God bless you during this wonderful time of year!
