Oh but a decade ago...

Completely by accident I forgot to post a birthday blog for Miss Sydnee...don't worry I didn't miss her birthday, just her birthday blog =) Ten years....that sounds like such a long time. It was barely 2001 and into the world came the most beautiful baby girl that I had ever seen. She had tons of black hair and her complexion was perfect. Right after she was born they put her on my tummy and she held her head up and looked around.....then she looked right into my eyes and I felt a ferocity inside my soul that I had never felt before. This innate instinct to love and protect her was overwhelming. You can't know this feeling I'm afraid unless you have a child and I certainly didn't believe that you could feel so strongly for one tiny little person that you hardly knew until that day. Having her was so bittersweet. I wanted her from the second I found out she was there but it was a rough go. I was young and I was a little unprepared for motherhood at first...but who isn't thrown some surprises where parenthood is concerned? I can remember bringing her home and putting her in her bed and just looking at her. I was amazed that I had a hand in something so beautiful. For the next couple of months Syd and I spent countless sleepless nights together...learning from each other and figuring out how we worked best together. What a blessing! I would never trade in these last ten years...none of it....even the bad stuff. I am who I am because she came into my life. She helped me to become more than just a woman...but a mother....and being her mommy has been one of the best things I have ever done! I love you Sydnee Abigaille =)
