How much can you afford?

At church we are in the middle of a series about simplicity. I started thinking about ways in which my life is simply complex. From money to time I think I cheat God by choosing to use it in ways that do not bring him glory. See bringing glory to God is why we're here right?! So why do I do things daily that contradict that? I am human and God knows that but he plants seeds of simplicity in our hearts and minds. With him things are simple. So I told myself how much can I afford? How much money can I give to causes that please him...how much time can I afford when praising him? I can afford much more than I think. God provides for EVERYTHING we need....not want but need. The hard part is seeing the difference. We often times connect ourselves with material things....human things, but God wants us to raise our eyes up to the sky and connect ourselves to him and all the promises he has made to us. I know the riches I receive in heaven are worth much more than anything I could attain in this Earthly world. So how much can you afford to give to God? How much is his promise worth? I know that the price he paid for me is PRICELESS so I can afford to give everything I have to him knowing that he will provide all I need!
