I survived my first week of VA orientation. It truly ended up being the longest week ever. I haven't even seen any patients yet, aside from the ones roaming the halls. I took a tour of my new unit and frankly it scared me a bit. The nurses station is surrounded in glass and all the doors leading in or out of the unit are locked. Very new experience for me to be working with people who have severe mental/psych issues. I'll be passing meds on my shift for the whole floor...which is like 40 patients. I would really like to do one on one patient care too but I'm not for sure how much more I'll be able to do when I'm the only one certified to pass meds for that shift.
